It's in the name. A dripping tap is the job plenty of larger firms won't turn out for, and it's exactly the sort of thing we're happy to come and sort — properly, at a price you agree before we start.

Tap problems worth calling about
Constant drip
A worn washer or ceramic cartridge. Small part, and it wastes water continuously.
Stiff or seized handle
Limescale binding the mechanism, common in hard water areas like ours.
Water leaking from the base
The seal below the spout has failed — it will get worse, not better.
Screeching or hammering
Loose washer or trapped air. Pipe hammer can damage joints over time.
Hot side barely runs
Often a blocked cartridge or a partially closed isolating valve.
Leaking in the cupboard below
Failed flexi tail or compression joint, and usually unnoticed for weeks.

A new washer or cartridge is often quicker than fitting a new tap. We tell you which makes sense.
Isolating valves
Where there isn't one, fitting an isolating valve can add time but makes every future job simpler.

Fitting a tap you've bought is fine. If we supply it, the price is agreed first.

If we find something else while we're there, we stop and tell you. It goes on the bill only if you say yes. No “while I was in there” extras appearing at the end.

Is a dripping tap too small a job for you?
Not at all. Small jobs are genuinely welcome — it's the sort of work a lot of firms won't come out for, and it's a large part of what we do.
Can you fit taps I've already bought?
Yes, that's completely fine. We'll tell you honestly if what you've chosen won't suit your water pressure before we start.
Why does my tap drip again a few months after a repair?
Usually because a washer was replaced but the seat it presses against is pitted. We re-cut or replace the seat so the fix actually lasts.
How much does a tap repair cost?
It depends on the tap and the part, which is why we look first and quote before starting. You'll never get a bill you haven't already agreed to.
